The Layman's Registry

What started off as a project fueled by chance and experiencing places within the city of Detroit, led to a project cultivating people's ideals and values through image. Fellow classmate, Samantha Griffith, and I passed out 20 disposable cameras to people living in and out of the city. We asked them to take photos of what moved them, whether it be beautiful, safe, infuriating, or grotesque. Disposable rather than digital cameras were used in order to discourage editing or planning photos - this project is about capturing moments of that which is intangible in the moment. (Project is still in progress, website will be up soon).
